The founder of IT Support Belfast Ltd, Gary Nicholl, has an overwhelming passion for technology. With over 20 years experience upgrading, fault finding, breaking and fixing technology.
Gary’s first computer was an IBM, operating windows dos 3.0. To load a computer game, you used command lines such as cd/. It was around this time that Gary really started to become interested in how a PC worked. At the young age of 16, Gary found himself Infront of a tool kit ready to open the machine up to have a nosey. Of course, this didn’t work out as planned resulting in a fault. It was around this time that Gary becomes very interested in fault finding. Using the skills and knowledge over those 20+ years Gary can identify a lot of faults based on informational descriptions received from clients.
Gary had moved on to college to study an NVQ level 2 in IT. Unfortunately, this was not completed due to certain circumstances however Gary continued to gain the knowledge around the workings of a PC. Gary worked for 2 major service providers sky and BT. At sky Gary was a broadband faults advisor, dealing with faults with sky customers broadband services. Gary was able to work his way up to 3rd line diagnostics in this role before moving onto BT.
The career continued to excel once Gary had moved over to BT, starting off as a broadband and phone line repair advisor to finally ending up as a BT cloud voice advanced diagnostics advisor. In this role Gary has been able to obtain further qualifications via the SIP School making him SIP certified. Gary is also a certified IT technician by gaining his CompTIA A+ qualification
